My name is Bill Tamminga and I am the creator of the Basketball Development Plan. I am a former Division I athlete and current basketball coach. As a part of the Air Force Academy football program in the late 90′s I experienced the rigors and demands of playing sports at an elite level. During my time in college, I learned about the dedication and commitment it takes to succeed in sports. I was an all-conference basketball player in high school and basketball has always been my favorite sport, so when my football career was over I began to explore my options as a basketball coach. Wanting to do all I could to help other players reach their highest potential, I spent a large number of hours researching peak performance and coaching in the gym. During those hours I put together a comprehensive training plan based on what Division I and professional basketball players are doing in their workouts.
The single most important component in a young player’s development is the time that player spends in the gym working on individual skills and drills. Unfortunately, today’s coaches have so much to worry about when it comes to team development that they can’t spend hours training each and every player on the team. Because of this, personal coaches have become a vital resource for players, but personal coaches are hard to find and many families cannot afford lessons on a regular basis.
